Modernistic exceeds environmental goal to reduce VOCs

STILLWATER, MN — Modernistic Inc. announced today they have reduced the amount of VOC’s that are emitted from their facility by reducing their lacquer consumption by 26%. Measures were implemented to further reduce that number going forward, such as: creating and implementing strict procedures when handling lacquer, training associates on proper amounts for lacquer used for cleaning screens in the press room, and implementing new chemicals with even lower VOC content.

This reduces Modernistic’s environmental footprint because using less lacquer reduces our employee exposure to VOC’s and reduces the amount of VOC’s that are emitted from their facility. This project was completed as a continuous improvement project towards our Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) certification.

“This reduction in lacquer reduces our VOCs and shows our commitment to continuous process improvement” says Scott Schulte Co-CEO. “Implementing Green initiatives doesn’t add to our overall operating costs, it actually reduces them.”

In addition to the decreased usage comes a significant environmental benefit, as Modernistic drastically reduces the amount of harmful, greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere. “We are thrilled that all associates worked together to complete and exceed this goal and reduce VOCs” said Schulte. “It is an extension of our company slogan ‘A Better Way Every Day’.”
