Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) member company MODERNISTIC was recently honored with their sixth consecutive SGIA Sustainability Recognition Award. MODERNISTIC continues to distinguish itself as a leader of sustainable business practices by being the only printer in the world to receive this distinction for six consecutive years. SGIA 2015 award
Each company was asked to outline the 2014 sustainability project they had undertaken. Modernistic reduced their lacquer usage by 26%. Measures were implemented to further reduce that number going forward, such as: creating and implementing strict procedures when handling lacquer, training associates on proper amounts for lacquer used for cleaning screens in the press room, and implementing new chemicals with even lower VOC content.
This reduces Modernistic’s environmental footprint because using less lacquer reduces our employee exposure to VOC’s and reduces the amount of VOC’s that are emitted from their facility.
MODERNISTIC first received certification from the Sustainable Green Printing (SGP) Partnership in 2009, and is currently only one of a few screen and digital large format printers in the nation with this distinction.
