STILLWATER, MN — Modernistic Inc. announced today they have reduced their volume of wax in their screen making area by 46%. Measures were implemented to eliminate that number going forward by using their new Signtronic Stencil Master Screen making machine.

This process change reduces the environmental footprint by lowering risks to the environment. When screen making wax is reduced, Modernistic’s carbon footprint is reduced. Utilizing our new Signtronic Stencil Master Screen making machine there is no longer a need for plotting opaque wax in the process. Shipping heavy wax is eliminated and this non-toxic water soluble wax is no longer washed into the wastewater stream. This project was completed as a continuous improvement project towards our Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) certification.

“This reduction in screen making wax shows our commitment to continuous process improvement” says Scott Schulte Co-CEO. “Implementing Green initiatives doesn’t add to our overall operating costs, it actually reduces them.”

In addition to the decreased usage come significant environmental benefits, as Modernistic drastically reduces the amount of harmful, greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere. “We are thrilled that all associates worked together to complete and exceed this goal” said Schulte. “It is an extension of our company slogan ‘A Better Way Every Day’.”
